Polissya Beast Rug (Maria Prymachenko, 1960s)

This designer rug by Shishka Project is based on “Polissya Beast” by Maria Prymachenko — one of the artist’s most personal and distinctive works.

The image of the beast is deeply connected to Prymachenko’s inner world, symbolizing strength, independence, and the ability to protect those for whom she felt responsible.

The original artwork is unique in its dual nature: on one side, it presents the image of the creature; on the other, a handwritten text by the artist herself — a reflection of her personal narrative. The work is part of a larger vision of an illustrated autobiographical book, where art and life are inseparably intertwined.

The image is also closely tied to the Polissya region — a place that shaped the artist’s worldview, nourished her creativity, and served as a source of inner strength.

The rug is produced as part of an official collaboration with the Maria Prymachenko Family Foundation and belongs to a limited series that translates the artist’s work into contemporary collectible design.

The total edition is limited to 100 pieces (across all available sizes).

Each rug is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, indicating the date of production and an individual edition number.
