Last year, the artist frequently observed a fascinating and captivating phenomenon: vast flocks of birds, primarily crows, circling before sunset. This spiraling flight—the moment they gather in autumn, calling loudly to each other—is part of their natural organization before roosting for the night or migrating. It was this moment, filled with movement, rhythm, and tension, that inspired her to create a new collection of carpets for Shishka Project.

The birds fly so high that they appear as abstract oval shapes scattered across the entire surface of the carpet—like traces of movement in the air.

This is more than just a decorative motif. Birds and flowers are among the most common images in Ukrainian carpet weaving throughout different centuries and regions. This is our cultural code, embedded in visual symbols, which the artist sought to reinterpret in a contemporary design.

The "whirlwind of birds" in this carpet also represents a whirlwind of emotions conveyed through color and composition. The diverse shades—both main and background—allow this carpet to blend harmoniously into an interior while carrying a profound meaning.
